untitled (he punched his own leg again)
He punched his own leg again in the same place he had punched it before. A bruise was already forming, but he didn't feel it. He clenched his jaw and spoke, grunted really, through gritted teeth. His eyes popped, strained in their sockets and flashed fire.
She stood up suddenly and looked wildly about. Her hands flew above her head and then formed fists to either side of her face as her lips protruded and spittle flew from her mouth. One of her fists fell violently to her side. She squeezed her eyes shut and the water which had been gathering there fell down her cheeks. Her other fist fell to her side.
He stood up. His mouth opened very wide.
Her eyes grew larger.
He sat back down and buried his face in his hands.
She stood there for a moment, wide-eyed, perhaps fearful. She raised a hand to her mouth, tentatively.
He looked up at her. His cheeks were wet. He looked at her shock and appeared momentarily confused before frowning deeply. He punched his thigh again. He stood up and took a step toward her. He pointed to a space behind her, his finger moving through the air like a spear.
She did not flinch. Her face lost its shocked expression, and a steeliness entered her eyes. She straightened her back. She did not blink. She did not move.
He did not blink. He did not move.
She slowly and purposefully, without once taking her eyes from him, pointed to the same place he was pointing.
His eyes widened almost imperceptibly.
