If these were my notes, what did I learn?

I went to a lecture last week by a visiting professor from the U.S. The audience was mostly made up of German undergrads. During the lecture (which was really quite interesting), I made a list of words used by the professor with which German undergrads would likely have some trouble. I am not judging the professor for using them. I just found myself keeping track, and thought the resulting list was interesting enough to share. To wit:
